The Canada Day fireworks were cancelled yesterday because the city was worried that it didn’t have the budget to pay for the policing of the event.
In other words, the City either ‘forgot’ to allocate budget money to cover our Country’s national holiday, or it’s worried that too many people will be out enjoying the fireworks, and it might lead to a good time by all.
I dunno. Maybe there’a a decent reason somewhere, but don’t tell me that you can’t find the money to police the event. That’s why we pay civic taxes, so that you can do things for the city, like plan for the fireworks on Canada Day that you know will happen every July 1st.
In other news, Surrey, well known for it’s law obiding people and safe streets, went through with their fireworks celebration.
